Born and raised on a farm in southeast Michigan, John Stevenson acquired strong work ethics and ambition with in a close-knit farming community. It was here that John was able to gain an immense understanding and appreciation for the success that comes from honest hard work and sheer determination.
At his current position, John now oversees a brigade of 70 cooks in two of the most sought after private event spaces in New York; the new standard of luxury at 583 Park Avenue and the historically famous Guastavinos. It is here that John works directly with some of the greatest clients in the world, constructing customized menus tailored to the specific details of each event.
John has been featured in many media outlets such as: NY Daily News, NY Sun, NY Times, Daily Telegram, Toledo Blade, Food Arts, Crain’s New York, Vanity Fair Magazine, Martha Stewart Radio and PushingBeyond.com.
John is the proud recipient of the Crain’s New York 40 under 40, 2009 Award and the NYPD Foundation’s Commanding Officer for a Night Honoree.
John is also actively involved with PENCIL, a non-profit organization based in New York that partners business leaders with inner city schools to assist principals in building new programs for the student body. Naturally John is working with the cooking club at New Heights Academy developing new ways to fundraise and increase healthy cooking and eating habits for middle school children.
Throughout the year John also meets and discusses with fellow exclusive members of MBM (Meeting of the Big Minds) across the country on topics and business ideas that are changing or will change the way we live, work and communicate in this country and abroad.
John currently resides in New York City with his wife Fatima and three children: Nadia, John and Nora.
